Atwongyeire Joseph, born in 1983, went to primary and secondary school in Kabale, Uganda. During school time he joined the Scouting and Wild Life Club, where he learned about the importance of protecting and restoring the environment. Seeing the environmental problems, both locally and globally, he decided to fully engage for saving the environment.
He studied at the Bishop Stuart University, Mbarara, Uganda for a certificate in environmental management and a diploma in project planning and management. After that, Joseph started the Greening Uganda project near Kabale. He is a strong Christian, belonging to the 36% majority Church of Uganda, Anglican Communion, and he is member of the church choir. He is also happily married and a father of a baby daughter.
